German owners are turning to alternative finance to replenish their fleets, according to German Shipowners' Association (VDR) president Alfred Hartmann.
Hartmann told the Capital Link 2021 German Maritime Forum that his company had managed to refinance a major part of its fleet despite the challenges of coronavirus.
He added that a growing number of owners were also finding alternative sources of financing following the fall in traditional bank finance.
