The New York-listed owner of nearly 60 containerships reported a profit of $12.5m, against net income of $17.4m in the three months to 30 September 2011.

While the bottom line fell year-on-year the gap is believed to be largely related to an accounting loss from a vessel sale.

The adjusted result amounted to $0.31 in earnings per share, which was four cents higher than equity analysts’ consensus estimate.
