French testing and certification group Bureau Veritas has called off talks over a €32bn ($33bn) merger with Swiss rival SGS.
The two sides had said on 15 January that they were discussing a potential business combination.
On Monday, the class society announced that the talks had stopped and had not resulted in an agreement, despite “a strong belief in the value of consolidation in the testing, inspection and certification sector”.
