Oslo-listed American Shipping Company has bolstered its bottom line reversing the loss it booked a year ago.

Charters offer protection from volatility

Last year’s third quarter loss of $31.4m turned into a $7.6m profit courtesy of $15.8m gain from foreign exchange activity.

Revenue also edged up in third quarter, rising to $21.9m from $18m in the same quarter a year ago.

The shipowner has set its finances on firmer ground.
