Initial attempts to free a Marmaras Navigation bulker that grounded in the Parana River nearly one week ago have failed.
Local sources tell TradeWinds that authorities in the Rio de la Plata region of South America have restricted transit along portions of the waterway, which links Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina to the Atlantic, as the 38,600-dwt Aristeas P (built 1985) is stranded in the main channel.
