The Marshall Islands Maritime Administrator has blamed a methane leak for the deadly explosion on a bulker in April.
The agency revealed their preliminary findings in their investigation into the casualty on the 57,000-dwt Tamar (built 2010) as part of a safety advisory aimed at warning other shipowners of potential risks. The administrator did not name the vessel, but the description of the incident made it clear that it referred to the Tamar, which is owned by Slovenia's Splosna Plovba.
