Shipbrokers say the commodities giant took the 81,500Anna Maria (built 2012) and 74,350-dwt Afovos(built 2001) from Arcadia Shipmanagement's dry division each for six months.
The newer unit is believed to havecommanded a daily rate of around $8,500 while the older of the two is said tohave fetched $7,500.
Similar vessels were earningapproximately $20,000 per day in six-month period deals a year ago but todaybrokers say modern panamaxes are going for $6,500 in the spot market and around$9,000 when fixed for a year.
