The bunker giant claims Allied Maritime hasn’t coughed up cash to cover fuel delivered to the 52,000-dwt Rainbow (built 2004) in January of last year.
According to a complaint filed in Miami, the plaintiff is seeking damages of more than $500,000 in addition to legal fees.
Observers note it may be difficult for the company to claw back the cash as involuntary insolvency proceedings against Allied are underway in Athens.
