A senior US Coast Guard official responsible for security has expressed confidence most ships calling at US ports will be compliant with the International Ship and Port Facility Code (ISPS) by the 1 July deadline.
Rear Admiral Larry Hereth, USCG director of port security, told a US Congress committee this week about 45% of ships visiting the US now had ISPS certification.
