Royal Caribbean Cruises has reported record third-quarter earnings, despite the impact of hurricanes, higher fuel costs and an unscheduled drydocking of one of its ships.

Net income for the three months was $282.5m ($1.33 a share), a near 50% increase on the $191.9m ($0.97 a share) in the same period last year. Revenues were up 23.7% at $1.4bn as capacity increased by 10.8%,
