Precious Shipping of Thailand has paid $17.2m for a 27,079-dwt bulk carrier as the handysize specialist continues to rebuild its fleet.
The ship, built in 1996, is to be renamed Chalothorn Naree. Precious identified the seller as Tulum Ltd of Hong Kong.
The company said after the second-hand acquisition its fleet would consist of 49 vessels of 1,225,404 dwt. Earlier this year it acquired 15 handysize bulk carriers from Malaysia International Shipping Corp for $98m.
