One of the best known figures in the liner shipping business has been nominated as a non-executive director of Royal P&O Nedlloyd.

Olav Rakkenes retired as the chief executive of Atlantic Container Line (ACL) in 2001 and said he was heading for the sunny shores of Florida rather than chilling out in Scandinavia.
