Bulgarian state shipowner Navibulgar is considering ordering 10 bulk carriers from the Varna shipyard in which it still holds a 25% stake.
The ships would be worth $200m, with five being 42,000 dwt and the other half being 20,000 dwt.
"We are holding talks on the purchase of ten ships, estimated at some $200m from the Varna shipyard, but we would also consider other offers," a Navibulgar press officer told the SeeNews agency.
