Marine Transport appoints new vice-president

Marine Transport Corporation has appointed Rockwell Smith as vice-president of its Ship Management Group in Weehawken, New Jersey.

Prior to the appointment, Smith was the vice-president of Crowley Petroleum Transport.

Smith, who replaces Bob Germain, reports to Mar Filanowski, senior vice-president of MTC.

Smith is responsible for MTC's fleet operations, including engineerng, purchasing and marine personnel functions.

Also, he continues to oversee the management of Crowley Petroleum tankers--Blue Ridge, Coast Range and Prudhoe Bay.
