Global Carriers, the Kuala Lumpur-listed line, has reported a profit of MYR 31.4m ($8.3m) for last year, a massive improvement on the loss of MYR 59.6m in 2002.
The Malaysian company, which operates fleet of two small containerships and six 7,000dwt tankers, has only recently emerged from a financial restructuring after being almost bankrupted during the Asian crisis of the late 1990s.
