Norway’s Aker Yards has reportedly made an offer to buy Poland’s Stocznia Gdanska shipyard, the birthplace of the Solidarity movement.
Polish newspaper Puls Biznesu has made the claim, without citing sources, although reports have been circulating of Aker’s interest in the yard for some weeks.
Aker spokesperson Tore Langballe is not commenting on the report.
Management at Gdanska, owned by the Stocznia Gdynia yard, are evaluating the offer, according to Arkadiusz Krezel, chairman of the state asset-management agency.
