Rijeka-based shipbuilder and ship repairer Viktor Lenac has won a contract to convert a heavy lift crane ship into a pipelayer.
The 9,000GT Sampson (built 2010), is fitted with a crane with a lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes.
The 180 metre LOA vessel is to be converted to laying offshore pipelines.
The contract price is EUR12.8m, or close to $18m.
The Viktor Lenac yard has already built a cable and umbilitical layer as well as a floating production unit (FPU).
