There is increasing concern that non-dry bulk ships caught up in the war in Ukraine will be unable to escape through a safe maritime corridor established by the United Nations’ humanitarian food programme.
The scheme was launched in late July to allow the export of agricultural cargoes.
But it seems unlikely that ships that do not usually carry cargoes such as grain and wheat can use the scheme to leave Ukraine after nearly seven months trapped in Black Sea ports.
