Straits Orient Lines (SOL) has confirmed that it has bought two containerships that are currently operated by South Korea’s Heung-A Line.
SOL, part of Mahesh Sivaswamy-led Transworld Group Singapore, said it acquired the 653-teu sisterships Heung-A Jakarta and Heung-A Manila (both built 1997) for $5.5m each.
TradeWinds first reported the deal on 16 August.
Their acquisitions give the growing Singapore-based feeder container operator a fleet of 14 owned vessels with a total operating capacity of 19,622 teu.
