Singapore’s Eastern Pacific Shipping is said to have inked a deal for six newbuildings at Japanese shipyards, lifting the total number of vessels it has under construction in the Far East to more than 70.

The order also stirred interest as Japanese yards have been regarded as pricier than their Chinese and South Korean rivals in recent times.
