German container line Hapag-Lloyd will pay a $2m fine in the US over alleged violations of detention and demurrage practices.
The US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) approved the civil penalty after a deal between the shipowner and the regulator’s Bureau of Enforcement (BoE).
The settlement followed an initial decision on 22 April by the FMC’s administrative law judge (ALJ).
