Germany’s Ernst Russ Group (ER Group) has moved into the larger end of the containership market with the acquisition of its biggest boxships to date.
The listed shipowner and investment manager said it had teamed up with strategic partners to acquire two vessels with a combined capacity of 9,700 teu.
It has also diversified in the multipurpose (MPP) sector with the acquisition of majority shares in a pair of 2007-built, 12,500-dwt project cargo vessels.
