Costamare has sold yet another containership for scrap, cementing its position as the leader of what has developed into a surge of Greek containership demolitions in recent months.
According to broker reports, the company agreed to sell the 4,900-teu Singapore Express (built 2000) “as is” in Hong Kong for $365 per ldt, or about $7.3m in total.
The Singapore Express is among the oldest ships in Costamare’s fleet of 69 vessels on the water.
