Container lines are finding it increasingly difficult to operate in Myanmar due to protests against the military coup and strikes by truck drivers.
The south-east-Asian nation has been rocked by weeks of protests since the military staged a coup on 1 February 2021, overthrowing the democratically elected government.
The deteriorating situation recently prompted German liner company Hapag-Lloyd to temporarily suspending any import bookings into Myanmar
“With continuous daily protests in Myanmar, the situation is becoming more and more tense,” the shipowner said in a customer advisory.
