Container ships operated by AP Moller-Maersk are skipping the congested Panama Canal.
In an advisory note to clients, the huge shipowner said this was due to “the ongoing water situation in the Panama Canal, and the possible impacts on cargo movements”.
Based on current and projected water levels in Gatun Lake, the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has cut the number and weight of ships passing through the waterway.
