Anti-piracy measures taken by Nigeria are commendable but fall short of stymieing piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, according to the head of international shipowners’ organisation Bimco.
“Of course the Nigerian government and Nigeria as a country are trying their best… but so far this is not enough,” Bimco president Sadan Kaptanoglu told the Slide2 Open ship finance conference broadcasting from Athens on Tuesday.
