Seanergy Maritime Holdings has bought its fifth capesize bulker this year as it continues to expand its exposure to the segment.

The New York-listed shipowner now has 16 large bulkers.

The Stamatis Tsantanis-led company said it purchased a 181,000-dwt capesize (built 2012) from a Japanese shipyard for $33.7m in cash on hand and debt financing.

Athens-based Seanergy expects to take delivery of the ship, which it will rename Worldship, in the third quarter and plans to stay committed to the capesize sector.
