NYK president Tadaaki Naito has said the time is right for structural reform after an improvement in bulker markets.
Addressing workers in his new year speech, the Japanese boss said that in the second half of 2017, the dry cargo sector finally exited a "long, seemingly endless dark tunnel" that had been hampering it.
"Now that the market is recovering, it is time to advance structural reforms aimed at transforming all the efforts made with gritted teeth.
