Finnish bulker operator ESL Shipping has cut down its ship numbers as the cost of charter renewals proved prohibitive.
The company, owned by the Aspo group, said six time-chartered vessels in its smaller dry cargo category were redelivered to their owners after the deals ended at the close of 2022.
“The price of an extended charter period became too high,” the owner said.
