Bulkers lead the way in using exhaust gas scrubbers to meet pending IMO 2020 sulphur regulations.
The ships account for 28% of all ordered and installed scrubbers, according to the Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems Association (EGCSA).
Tankers come in second with a 23% share, followed by boxships at 16%, cruiseships 15% and roros/ferries 13%.
Scrubber orders have accelerated to 983 by May, with 71 ordered in that month alone, an EGCSA shows.
