Average daily earnings for eco-design capesize bulkers with exhaust gas scrubbers have plummeted from record highs in June, but these vessels are still enjoying a healthy premium in a low-rate environment.
These vessels were earning a premium of $20,708 per day on 10 June, according to a TradeWinds analysis of Clarksons Research data. That marked the biggest gap compared to capesizes that are not eco-design and do not have scrubbers since the start of 2020, the start of the global cap on sulphur emissions.
