Healthy demand in the English Channel has helped P&O Ferries to record its longest modern-day run of high monthly freight volumes between Dover and Calais.

The ferry owner has seen its six ships carry more than 100,000 freight vehicles each month since May 2015.

P&O said it has never exceeded the 100,000 vehicles mark for 13 months in a row.

Janette Bell, chief commercial officer at P&O, said: “These figures illustrate that demand on the English Channel continues to be robust, with our ferry services providing a vital link in the supply chain between Britain and France.”
