Delphis, the container shipping division of Belgian shipowner Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB), is continuing to stock up on midsize containerships in the belief that the segment’s recovery still has some way to run.
The Antwerp-based owner has acquired the 4,178-teu Galicia D (ex-Hammonia Galicia, built 2010) and argues that the midsize segment still offers some of the best value.
Prices have risen steeply over the past two years, during which CMB has been one of the more active buyers of this class of tonnage.
