The nervousness of shipowners plying their trade in the pirate-infested Somali Basin was exemplified on Friday after a Taiwanese owner falsely reported a hijacking.
It is a measure of the widespread threat against shipping posed by Somali pirates that the owner of the fishing vessel Feng Guo 168 confirmed it as seized only to later retract this claim.
