Zim Integrated Shipping Services is plotting its first newbuilding programme since the financial crash.
The Israeli liner operator is in talks with yards, owners and banks, with the intention of ordering between seven and 10 ships of over 13,000 teu, according to chief executive and president Rafi Danieli.
Zim is still checking all possibilities and may lease the vessels but it has no time frame, says Danieli, who plays down that the line has signed letters of intent (LOIs) for up to 13 ships with Asian yards.
