Market sources say domestic shipbuilder China Shipbuilding Corp (CSBC) and Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding are each expected to win orders from Evergreen for 10 boxship newbuildings of 3,000 teu.
Yard executives say no contract has been signed yet. “Evergreen is still discussing with shipyards over the vessels and we reckon it will take the owner another month before a decision can be made,” said one shipbuilding source.
