Brazilian mining giant Vale’s 400,000-dwt bulkers are not yet free to call at Chinese ports despite a recent report to the contrary. Sources expect the company’s iron ore to reach China through transhipment stations for some time to come.
An end to the three-year deadlock has been predicted almost since its beginning — and has seemed inevitable since September when Vale’s nemesis, Cosco, signed a co-operation agreement with Vale in Beijing.
