A new six-year labour agreement covering US East Coast and Gulf Coast ports has been agreed six months ahead of the expiry of the current contract.
The deal between the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA), representing dockers from Maine to Texas, and the US Maritime Alliance (USMX), which represents terminal operators and international shipping lines, follows the groundbreaking six-year agreement on the West Coast in 2002.
