MOST industry players rightly associate Fednav with the city of Montreal, but few probably realise the company´s founders were Hungarian.
The road from Hungary to Montreal was not a straight one for the Pathy family. They lived for many years in Egypt when Laurence Pathy´s grandfather was the Hungarian consul in Alexandria.
Later his sons, Ernest, George and Ladislas, went their separate ways: Ernest to Toronto, and George and Ladislas (Laurence Pathy´s father) to the US.
