The 60,000-gt Silja Europa (built 1993) made a surprise visit to Singapore this week as it emerged that its owner is looking to sell it for around EUR 98m ($106m).
The ship has just come off a 14-month charter to Canadian offshore accommodation provider Bridgemans, which used it for a Chevron contract at the Gorgon field in Australia.
The vessel, a giant by ferry standards with accommodation for 3,746 passengers, was one of several ferries that Tallink inherited after it acquired Scandinavian’s Silja Line from the Sea Containers consortium in 2006.
