Stopford forecasts pain until the end of decade

Shipping markets could remain in the doldrums until 2020, according to Clarksons non-executive research president Martin Stopford.

Speaking to TradeWinds at the announcement of the Onassis Prizes for 2015, Stopford said recessions tend to precipitate either a crisis or a long drawn out problem.

“I think what we’ve got now is a long drawn out problem,” he said. “I think it will see this decade out.”
