Beijing-based Sinochem has boosted its chemical-tanker fleet with the purchase of three 20,000-dwt stainless steel-tank vessels formerly operated by Odfjell.
But the trio acquired last week merely continues a series of buys that have been quietly picking up pace over the past year or more, according to brokers. The purchases have, in recent months, moved Sinochem from being a mostly small-ship fleet to one increasingly involved in larger tonnage classes and increasingly in international trades.
