Energy major Shell is considering reactivating a 13-year-old LNG carrier that has been laid up in Southeast Asia for almost three years.
Industry sources say the company is set to bring the 138,209-cbm, former BG Group vessel Methane Kari Elin (built 2004) out of layup. Shell inherited the vessel when it completed its purchase of BG last year.
Shell personnel are understood to have inspected the ship’s equipment recently.
