TOKYO: NYK Cruises of Japan is taking advantage of the unexpected
popularity of the first round-the-world cruise by its luxury cruiseship
Asuka by pencilling in a second trip for March 1997.
This marks a change in marketing strategy for the 584-passenger Asuka.
Because the vessel is aimed at the Japanese market, it previously only
sailed on short Southeast Asian and Pacific island tours.
The longer trip packages may also bring a change in fortune for the
loss-making ship.
