Ramon Ang, chairman of Manila-based San Miguel Corp (SMC), famous as makers of the globally popular San Miguel Beer, is pushing for his company to launch a new dry bulk arm to carry the two million tonnes of wheat and other grains his company imports into the Philippines every year.
Ang has indicated that SMC wants to acquire a fleet of around six panamaxes to meet the company’s shipping requirements.
