The Dortmund-based asset manager has picked up the 1,118-teu Vega Mercury (to be renamed SAG Good Timing, built 2009) in what chief executive officer Christian Salamon says is “a question of timing”.

He says the move has been made in the hope of benefitting from a pending shortage of smaller containerships.

It will remain on charter with Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) operating on services between Italy and Algeria, as well as staying under the management of Vega Reederei as part of a pool of 10 vessels of around 1,000 teu.
