Pacific International Lines (PIL) is reportedly close to a deal to build up to eight boxships of 9,400 teu at Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.
Information on the order was scarce as TradeWinds went to press but a Yangzijiang official said: “Nothing is fixed yet.”
Sources indicate that the order includes four firm ships, plus four options. The choice of yard is a surprising departure and may reflect commercial leadership changes at the yards involved.
