The Panama Canal, in what could be considered the market for containership routes between Asia and the US, was a giant until the proliferation of post-panamax vessels ate away at its dominance.
Now, its government administrators expect the waterway will regain its majority market share.
From the numbers alone, it is easy to see how expansion of the canal became such a focal point of Panama’s maritime sector.
