The Assurance Foreningen Protection & Indemnity (P&I) Association claims to be a leading mutual insurance provider with a worldwide shipowner membership.
But it is unconnected to Assuranceforeningen Gard or Assuranceforeningen Skuld or even Sveriges Angfartygs Assurans Forening. And, whatever the name may suggest, this outfit is in business a long way from the Norwegian fjords or the Goteborg archipelago.
Whoever runs the Assurance Foreningen P&I Association appears to bask in the tropical climate of Palm Beach, Florida, and despite what may be claimed to the contrary, is an obscure outfit run from a private house where a lot of due diligence is warranted before signing a membership application.
