Maritime lawyers in the UAE are working hard in the wake of the collapse of Danish bunker supplier OW, and the subsequent liquidation of OW Middle East, an affiliate registered in the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) free-zone.
Jasamin Fichte of Dubai-based maritime law firm Fichte & Co tells TradeWinds that her practice has so far arrested around eight vessels, mostly in the bunkering ports of Fujairah and Khorfakkan, and that she has a list of another 23 vessels for which clients are seeking arrest warrants.
